This table shows the price of the more popular newspapers. It shows the proce during the week and on a Sunday. As you can see from the table the price of a newspaper is more expensive on a Sunday compared to during the week. The only reason a newspaper is more expensive on a Sunday is because it contains more news and is bulkier so the customers have to pay more for it.

Local Newspapers

Braintree and Witham Times - 45p
Halstead Gazette - 43p
Suffolk Free Press - Free

The local papers are a lot cheaper than the more popular papers because they only really contain local news that would be aimed at the local people so would not be bulky so wouldn't have a lot of paper to pay for. If it wasn't cheap then the people from the place that the paper is aimed at wouldn't buy as it was be too expensive just to see their local news. The local papers are also cheaper because they wouldn't have to mass produce them as they are only aimed at people from that area meaning that there would only be a certain amount of people that would buy it so would be cheaper to pay for it so they make the paper cheap. However, a national paper such as The Sun would have to be mass produced as it is national and different people from all over the country would buy it. This is a reason they make the paper more expensive than a paper from a local area as it would be more expensive to produce the millions of copies of The Sun they need so need more money to pay to produce it.
